MOORE, Okla. - A woman is seeking answers after her dog was found shot to death behind her house over the weekend.

"I was completely in shock. My heart just sank,” said Michelle Brock, who lives a few houses away. "In general, there've been a lot of dogs out and about, and I understand getting frustrated, but this was not one of the problem dogs. Definitely not even close to one of the problem dogs. Really small, little, cute puppy and someone just shot it."

Brock is talking about little Maycee, who was found shot to death this weekend.

Maycee’s owner said she got out during a recent storm.

"I guess it had dug out. They found it kind of behind the house in a creek,” said Sgt. Jeremy Lewis with the Moore Police Department.

Sadly, this wasn't a first for Maycee.

Maycee's owner said the tiny dog had been shot in the past.

In fact, one of her neighbors even reported damage to their home that was caused by gunshots within the last year.

Residents believe the gunshots are likely coming from across the creek.

"Our investigators will look into it, see if we can figure out who shot it or why that happened,” Lewis said.

Maycee’s owner and neighbors are taking to the Nextdoor app to spread the word about the incident.

"I don't know who would shoot and kill a small dog. It's just very sad,” Brock said.

So far, no arrests have been made.
