Reports: OSU’s Mike Gundy meeting with Tennessee officials about head coaching job

STILLWATER, Okla. – A popular Oklahoma State coach may be exploring other coaching options around the league.

Earlier this week, Oklahoma State Football Head Coach Mike Gundy reportedly turned down the head coaching job at Florida.

However, ESPN reports that Gundy met with Tennessee athletic director John Currie for several hours on Tuesday to discuss the Volunteers’ head coaching job.

There aren’t any details on the meeting yet, but Gundy had informed Oklahoma State that he planned to meet with Tennessee officials.

If Gundy accepts the job, sources told ESPN that he will likely become one of the highest paid coaches in the SEC. In fact, reports state that he would become the third highest paid coach in college football, and his salary would double.

The Midwest City native is about the close out his 13th season at the helm at Oklahoma State. He told the Tulsa World on Saturday that he’s never felt more comfortable at the school and is very happy with the direction Oklahoma State is heading.
