OKLAHOMA CITY – An Oklahoma man was taken into custody for robbery after an officer was in the right place at the right time.
Around 3 p.m. on Thursday, officers were called to a reported bank robbery at the MidFirst Bank, located near N.W. 23rd St. and May Ave.
Initial reports indicated that a man wearing a black hoodie and a bandanna over his face walked into the bank and demanded money from a teller.
According to an arrest report, an officer was on patrol when he spotted a man running from the bank. Moments later, dispatchers alerted officers to the armed robbery.
The officer learned that the man he saw running from the bank matched the description of the robbery suspect.
The report states that the officer was able to catch up to 29-year-old Jim Merton.
Merton was arrested on one count of first-degree robbery.
