Video of dog ripping car apart goes viral

DALTON, Ga. – Video showing a dog ripping a car apart has gone viral.

On November 9th, Jessica Dilallo called police when a dog started aggressively trying to rip off her brand new car’s bumper, WTVC reports.

She went live on Facebook while asking the police officer on scene to do something to stop the dog, even asking him to shoot it at one point.

However, the officer refused to shoot the dog, telling Dilallo that it was not being aggressive to any humans.

According to WTVC, police said the dog was going after two cats that were hiding under the car’s hood.

In the video, Dilallo says, “And so when he finally gets to whatever he’s going to we get to watch him destroy that as well? The cat gets to die, too?”

The officer in the video assured Dilallo that animal control officers would stop the dog before it attacked the cats.

An animal control officer showed up to the scene just as the video ended.

Dilallo told WTVC that she has received death threats since the video of the incident went viral.

“I’m like the most hated person right now because I said I wanted to shoot the dog, but I still stand by that,” she said.

Dilallo told the local news station she wanted police to shoot or use a stun device on the dog because she was scared it would hurt someone or another animal.

“It was foaming at the mouth, there was blood everywhere,” Dilallo said.

The police officer on scene said he stands by his decision not to shoot or hurt the dog.

“If we can catch the dog maybe we can identify the owner and she can seek restitution that way to get her car fixed,” Officer Matthew Locke said. “If we just run the dog off, pepper spray it or tase it, it may turn on us and then we would be forced to kill it because it would be attacking one of us.”

“My whole goal was to try to keep it contained, catch it and identify the owner and ultimately that’s what we did,” Locke said.

The owner of the dog agreed to pay Dilallo for damages, WTVC reports.
