Man arrested for child neglect after allegedly playing joke on kids
OKLAHOMA CITY – An Oklahoma man was taken into custody after he says he played a joke on a couple of children.
On Dec. 6, officers were called to the area of S.W. 29th St. and I-44 after someone called 911 to report children walking on the interstate.
According to the arrest affidavit, police spotted two small children walking along I-44.
The report states that the children were hungry so officers took them to get something to eat from a fast-food restaurant. A little while later, dispatchers informed officers that 33-year-old William Chauncey was reporting two runaways.
According to the affidavit, Chauncey told police that he stopped by a friend’s house and the children got out of the car to play hide and seek. He allegedly told police that when the kids got out of sight, he drove off as a joke to ‘scare them.’
When he drove back around the block, he says the kids were gone.
Chauncey was arrested on a complaint of child neglect.
