Meg Alexander

KFOR-TV Anchor/Reporter

Meg Alexander joined Oklahoma's NewsChannel 4 in 1997. She anchors the 4 p.m., 5 p.m. and 6:30 p.m. newscasts.

Meg is an award-winning journalist known for her versatility.

She's been honored numerous times by the Oklahoma Association of Broadcasters, the Associated Press and

The Society of Professional Journalists for both anchoring and reporting.

She began her career as a tape editor at KGAN in Iowa and worked her way through the ranks as a producer, reporter and anchor at WMDT in Maryland before coming to KFOR to anchor the morning show.

After 7 years of waking up very early, she moved to the evening shows.

Meg believes hard work, hands-on experience and being well-read is the best approach to strong journalism.

She is one of the few evening anchors that goes into the community and reports almost every day.

Meg has a B. A. in Political Science from Colorado College and a Master's Degree in Journalism from Northwestern University in Evanston, Illinois.

She has a passion for athletics, music and reading.

She was a competitive tennis player, figure skater, soccer player and even played women's ice hockey in college.

These days you're apt to find her on the ski hill or playing golf.

Meg is also a fan of the Arts.

She played the piano, saxophone and studied voice for years.

Between undergrad and grad school, she took time off to work professionally in musical theatre at the Denver Country Playhouse and The Crystal Palace in Aspen.

As a member of the Junior League of Oklahoma City and the Kappa Alpha Theta Alumni Group, Meg makes giving back to her community a priority.

She also helps with numerous charities which include the National Organization “PlaySmart” that her husband helped found.

You may also spot Meg coaching her children’s soccer teams or cheering them on at games or dance.

Meg lives with her husband, son and two daughters in Oklahoma City.

Life Goal - To write mystery novels and raise some decent kiddos.
Play any sports/Favorite Sport - I love, love, love to downhill ski. I love doing most sports. I also enjoy going to football games with my husband. He's taught me the intricacies of the sport.
Favorite TV Show - Anything that involves a "who dunnit."
Favorite Car - Some day I would like to drive a refurbished 1968 red mustang convertible.
Happiest moment in my life was..The moment each of my three children was born - I guess that's three happiest moments.
4 notable persons you'd invite to dinner - Eva Peron, Sue Grafton, Henry David Thoreau and a toss up between Chelsea Handler/Tina Fey. (These last two may not be notable - but they'd be fun)
Favorite food - Steak with Béarnaise sauce along with artichokes dipped in lemon butter. Yum!
I have a pet - yellow lab named Sophie
Knew you wanted to be a reporter when…I used to do hours of "radio interview" shows on an old tape recorder since about age 6. I already see my daughter doing the same!
Best movie of all time - Drama - "Shawshank Redemption" - Funny - "Fletch", "This is Spinal Tap" and "A Fish Called Wanda".
Hardest part of my job - Seeing so many sad things.
Favorite holiday - Christmas
School fight song - Cheer, Cheer for Old Plainwell High
My favorite story of all time - "A Little Princess" A classic story for all ages.
People are surprised when I tell them...I don't like the Beatles.
I like to listen to...All types of music (except the Beatles) the 6 cd's in my car right now - "Annie", "James Taylor", "Van Morrison", "Def Leppard", "Sister Hazel" and last summer's bible school CD.
Favorite Book - "The Fountainhead" by Ayn Rand
I'd jump at the chance to...take a year off and travel around the world.
Best part of the day - when I have dinner at home and we all go around the table and tell the best part of our day.
Favorite place to be other than home & work: Flying down a ski hill with my son and daughter yelling "cowabunga." They say I embarrass them.
Anything else you want viewers to know about you? I really love what I do. I love to read, I'm naturally curious and I love to write. When all that comes together and I can help someone - it is a wonderful thing.
