“My two kids, Caleb and Audrey, decided they wanted to do something to help out and make a difference. They decided the best thing to do for other kids was to collect books for kids. They wanted children helping children,” said Cole Stanley.

Caleb was on the street helping collect books and is happy he can help in any way. ” We’ve been putting up signs, my dad’s friend made a sign on the web to get the word out.”

Days ago it was a struggle for life.

Hayden, brother Hunter and sister Emma were all in the Plaza Towers  Elementary school when the tornado hit.

Hayden is still trying to process it.

“We were up against the wall in a crouch position so we wouldn’t get hurt,” he said.

This third grader was one of the first to be pulled out of the school’s rubble.

“When the tornado came by it collapsed a wall on top of all the third graders and then the roof fell in after,” he said.

Dad Dusty Payne pulled Hayden out.

“He was in a ball still on his knees trapped underneath everything,” Dusty said.

Right in front of him was a classmate that was face down and he was buried up to his face in rubble.

We checked his pulse and there was nothing there so I covered him up with a blanket so the other kids couldn’t see him anymore,” Dusty said.

That child was Hayden’s good friend Christopher Legg.

“I was right here, there was a girl right there and he was right there,” Hayden said. “When I get pulled out, she was right here. You can see him right here…across.”

Payne said Hayden had one immediate worry.

“He was concerned about finding the mother to his friend to tell his friend’s mom that he didn’t make it,” he said.

A message no 9-year-old child should bear.

“At night he talks in his sleep and last night he had a dream and he just sat straight up and he wasn’t awake,” he said.

Three Plaza Towers survivors with much healing ahead but this father living in the moment right now.

“We’ve been all sleeping on the couch because they want me sleeping there with them. When you hug your kids tonight hold on to them for a little bit longer because you don’t know.”

“Cleaning products, a lot of paper towels, we have a lot of water, rice, food products, we’ve got about anything you need,” volunteer Dennis Teague said.

From here, volunteers spiral out, bringing aid to storm victims all over the metro. Those same victims can come to the college for anything they need.

“You’ve just gotta do it. And you pray the Lord will give you wisdom to do it right.  And to, ugh, to love on those people that come through,” Teague said.

One of the charities working out of Hillsdale College is Matthew 25 Ministries.

In four hour shifts, volunteers go on foot to the neighborhoods hardest hit by the EF 5 tornado.

Since many of the victims have no way to get to Hillsdale, this group takes the much-needed relief to them.

“These people are amazing,” CEO Tim Mettey said. “You know, we go up to people and we’re like, ‘Do you need anything,’ and their first thing is like ‘No, we don’t need anything,’ and we say, ‘But you’ve lost a lot’ and they say, ‘Well, we don’t want to take more when somebody possibly might need it more than we do,’” CEO Tim Mettey said.

The center at the Hillsdale Gym is open around the clock until further notice.

The family said the baby’s early arrival saved their lives.

The small town was wrecked by Sunday’s twister.

Inside the truck, everything from water to diapers and formula, even cleaning items. These were some of the donations our viewers brought to the KFOR studios this week.

The trailer was so full it flattened one of the tires on the way.

A highway patrol trooper actually pulled over our driver but when he found out where this truck was headed, he provided a highway escort into town.

The bill appropriates the $45 million in aid to victims in Carney, Little Axe, Moore, Norman, Newcastle, Shawnee and other areas affected by the storm.

Official said at least 1,150 homes were destroyed.

That number may change as assessments continue.

Accounting degree and minimum three years related work experience is required. Great Plains and/or Wide Orbit experience a plus.

Jerrie survived and was hospitalized for injuries.

The family said Syndee just crawled for the first time Sunday.

The girls took cover in a bathtub with their mother and grandmother.

The winds took Sydnee from her mother’s arms.

She, her children and their dog huddled in a closet in their home near Briarwood Elementary.

She was killed and their dog had to be put to sleep.

One of her sons was hospitalize, the other escaped with scrapes and bruises.

Her mother was taken to the hospital as well.

Her husband was not harmed.

His mother, Megan, picked him up from a babysitter and took cover in the store’s walk-in freezer.

The mother and son were killed as they took protection in the store’s walk-in freezer.

She grew up in Nicoma Park with her two younger brothers.

She worked at the FAA for many years at the Mike Monroney Areonautical Center.

Her family said he loved photography, traveling and anything Harley Davidson.

Terri’s proudest accomplishments were her three children Terry Don Costilla, Jenna Costilla, and Alyson Costilla and her grandchildren, Brayden Silva and Ella Costilla.

She stopped at a convenience store in Moore to take shelter when her life ended.

Her home was also destroyed in the tornado.
