GUTHRIE, Okla. — The Guthrie Public Library has launched a new program aimed at eliminating library late fees and getting physically fit. Fines are often a deterrent for library customers.

Library Director, Cyndi Selinger says, “We want to give them another option to take care of their fines and come back to us.”

The Guthrie Public Library is teaming up with three Guthrie Fitness centers.

You can go to the Guthrie YMCA for free every second Thursday of the month.

Curves will have you every fourth Friday for free.
Anytime Fitness has their free day every third Wednesday.

The trade off is 15 minutes of exercise for $1 off a late fee.

The promotion lasts three months.

The library is hoping you use the time to pay down your bill.

The local gyms are hoping you stay once the three months is up.

Anytime Fitness manager Courtney Smith says, “It’s just really nice to get people involved in fitness who aren’t even thinking about it. It’s nice to get our name out there and get our businesses out there.”

“Exercise for fines” is one part of the “get fit” Logan County initiative.
