10-year-old recovering after being shot

NOBLE, Okla.-A 10-year-old girl who was shot in the head Thursday afternoon is said to be recovering.

Savannah Fouch was rushed to surgery in critical condition last week but her family says her condition is improving.

Her family released the following statement:

“This was a terrible accident that has affected both children terribly. We have a long road ahead of us, but we are trusting that with God’s strength and the support of our church and community, that we will make it through this.”

Fouch was shot in the forehead with a .22 caliber hunting rifle by her 14-year-old cousin.

She is a 5th grade student at Pioneer Intermediate School in Noble.

Authorities say the shooting is currently under investigation.
