Prisoners escape, considered armed and dangerous

OKEMAH, Okla. — Authorities across the state are looking for two men who are considered armed and dangerous after they escaped from the Okfuskee County Jail.

Gerald Adams, 40, and Keith Dewayne Smith, 45, escaped from the jail Monday night and were last at the east end of Okemah.

Adams was being held on charges of first-degree burglary, robbery, conspiracy and two counts of assault and battery with a deadly weapon.

Smith was being held on charges of assault with a dangerous weapon, eluding a police office and traffic violations.

This was not Smith’s first time escaping from jail.

He was previously in prison on convictions of kidnapping, attempted kidnapping, delivering marijuana and escaping from a county jail.

Anyone with information on their whereabouts is asked to call 911 or the Okfuskee County Sheriff’s Office at (918) 623-1122.
