OKLAHOMA CITY -- A metro delivery man said an app helped him find his stolen iPhone.

George Sanders' backpack and company iPhone were stolen out of his truck last month.

Sanders said the phone has an app called “Find My iPhone,” which can turn a missing cell phone into a GPS tracker.

Sanders tells us someone he works with was able to use the app to locate the phone.

"It was the app ‘Find My iPhone.’ He said he could ping it and he could get a location anywhere he pinged it," Sanders said.

Sanders said the iPhone was at a metro hotel near I-40 and Meridian.

Oklahoma City Police found the phone and Sanders’ bag.

"That's what broke the case, the person being able to track their phone and let us know exactly where it is," MSgt. Gary Knight, Oklahoma City Police said.

Police arrested James Allen, 32, on multiple charges including concealing stolen property.

MSgt. Knight said the app can be very useful but wants to remind people to avoid confronting a suspect.

He said it’s best to call police.
