OKLAHOMA CITY – As the final seconds ticked off the game clock, many NBA fans in the nation’s pacific northwest refused to applaud.

“It’s been interesting. A lot of people are still holding a grudge. Last night hurt, for lot of fans in the NBA here in Seattle,” says Reporter Chris Daniels of KING-TV.

Of course it’s been years since Kevin Durant and his teammates played in Seattle, but some fans still can’t forget the past. One fan wrote online: “Who cares what happens to a AAA town like OKC. I haven’t watched a single NBA game since the Sonics were stolen.”

Chris Daniels says, “A lot of people have been turned off by the NBA. [They] still have a bad taste about how the NBA left this town.”

On the Seattle Times website there are plenty of haters. One posting said, “The Thunder being in the finals is the clearest sign of the appolpyse in my lifetime.” Another claiming, “I don’t like Harden and his disease riddled beard.” And yet another comment says, “This makes me throw up a little in my mouth.”

It’s clear, when the Thunder take the court in the finals, they won’t have a lot of support in Seattle.

“I would say 90 to 95 percent of fans of the NBA in Seattle will root against the Thunder,” Daniels says.

The Sonics former owner, Starbucks CEO Howard Schultz also came under fire online for having sold the team to Clay Bennett.

Daniels says, “I must say there were a handful of comments online from folks in Seattle praising the team and offering congratulations, but those were definately in the minority.”

As for local Seattle transplants living in oklahoma; what do they think about the Thunder?

It may not be a huge surprise, but several people who live in Oklahoma, having moved from Seattle, do support the team.
