GOODWELL, Okla. -- Police believe three people died when a pair of freight trains collided in the Oklahoma panhandle Sunday morning.
The Oklahoma Highway Patrol says two engineers and one conductor are unaccounted for.
The conductor of one of the trains survived because he jumped from the train right before impact.
It happened one mile east of Goodwell, Oklahoma in Texas County.
A train carrying new automobiles was traveling west on the track and collided head-on with an eastbound train carrying a variety of cargo.
Union Pacific Railroad, which owns both trains, said the crash also sparked a diesel fuel fire.
National Transportation Safety Board team members arrived to the scene Monday morning to investigate.
