OKLAHOMA CITY—Officials with EMSA say June was a busy month for heat related calls but July could be even worse.

In June, officials say EMSA personnel responded to 56 heat related emergency calls and 36 of those resulted in a patient being taken to local hospitals for treatment.

EMSA paramedics say when the temperatures soar, drink plenty of water and take cooling breaks to get out of the heat and allow your body to cool down.

Also, watch out for elderly family members and neighbors and make sure your pets get plenty of water.
