OKLAHOMA CITY — Oklahoma City police are investigating a homicide that happened around 5:30 p.m. Sunday in the 400 block of NW 89th.

They were called to the home by the suspect himself who called 911 and told the dispatcher that his son attacked him with some sort of machete or hatchet and that he had shot him.

The son was dead when police arrived on scene.  His father was taken into custody for questioning.

“He’s in custody right now and obviously we’re going to question him and then it’ll depend on the interviews he does with homicide as to what they’re going to do with him,” said Lt. Jeff Cooper with the Oklahoma City police department.

Neighbors reacted to the scene with shock.

One neighbor even said the son used to help her out.

“He used to come take my trash out for me when I first moved over here so I never thought that he would be in a position to be in the position that he is in now.  I never thought it, never thought it.  He was always nice and would speak and never would’ve thought it,” said Anita Williams.

Another neighbor who didn’t want to be identified told Newschannel 4 that the son had been incarcerated for a long time and had only been back home for about six months.

Police did not release the suspect or victim’s name.
