New arrest in murder of Bethany teen

BETHANY, Okla. — Officers have made a new arrest in the murder of Bethany teen, Carina Saunders. 

Bethany Police arrested 37-year-old Luis E. Ruiz at about 1 p.m. Thursday. 

Ruiz is facing a first-degree murder charge. 

Authorities have not released any other details at this time.

Nine months ago police made the gruesome discovery of Saunders’ dismembered body.

The remains were discovered in a duffel bag near a grocery in Bethany.

Police believe the 19-year-old girl was tortured before the killing.
