Extra precautions taken with small house fire
OKLAHOMA CITY—A small fire was quickly put out as fire crews rushed to the scene Saturday afternoon.
Authorities were called to the 1600 block of N.W. 15th St. around 12 p.m. after a fire broke out in a home in the area.
When they arrived on scene, firefighters found a small fire and were able to quickly get it under control before any serious damage was done.
However, crews were not able to determine the exact amount of damage because a neighbor informed them that the house was a possible meth lab.
Officials say they took extra precautions just in case those accusations were true.
Batt. Chief Todd Matthews, with the Oklahoma City Fire Department, said, “It was completely unconfirmed. We went in, what we normally do in that situation is I’ll send our Hazmat team in to look for what we call precursors, some things that would indicate that that’s possibly going on. They found a few things that are iffy, could be, may not be, could be innocent or could be precursors to it.”
Fire crews and police were not able to give us an update.
