OKLAHOMA CITY -- The quest for beer lead to violence at a south side 7-Eleven store.

It happened last week at a store in the 7400 block of S. Walker.

"These people are just milling about the store for several minutes," OKC Police Sgt. Jennifer Wardlow said. "They're in there for quite a while before you see the main suspect grab the beer and it looks like he has one case in each hand and he just walks out the front door."

Wardlow said that's when the clerk followed the man out and asked him to pay for the beer.

"The clerk saw this and talked to these individuals who were getting ready to leave the store," Wardlow said. "It was at this time that you can see on the surveillance video that one of the suspects actually gets out of the truck walks over and assaults the store clerk."

Police said the clerk needed surgery but is recovering.

Authorities are still searching for the suspect.
