OKLAHOMA CITY -- Arson investigators are looking into who may be responsible for an overnight house fire believed to have been set by a Molotov cocktail.

The residents of the home did not want to talk on camera but one of them said he was in the front bedroom when the fire started.

He said the fire quickly came through the window and then consumed the front porch.

OKC Fire Major Tammy McKinney said, "The front portion of the house was well involved. The fire obviously started on the front porch."

Fire crews rushed to the scene overnight and quickly learned the fire was likely arson.

McKinney said, "The occupants were actually awake when this happened and there is suspicion that a Molotov cocktail was thrown."

One of the residents was inside with his girlfriend, his roommate wasn't home.

McKinney said, "It was beneficial that those folks were awake and were able to self evacuate. That made a huge difference."

Both residents believe it was malicious.

Not only did their home burn but they said someone also busted out the windows on their pickups.

McKinney said, "We are jointly investigating this with Oklahoma City Police right now. Oklahoma City Police is pursuing some domestic-related issues."

Investigators said they do have a potential suspect identified.

They are not releasing any information about the suspect.

As for the Molotov cocktail, fire investigators said it's a dangerous weapon and could lead to felony charges if the suspect is caught.

"It creates a lot of fire and it spreads very quickly. It's kind of a 'throw-it-and-go" kind of thing,"McKinney said.

There were a couple of pets inside; they made it outs safely.

Crews estimate there was about $20,000 in damage.
