OKLAHOMA CITY -- Our cameras where the only ones rolling as dozens of officers descended on a house looking for a murder suspect. It happened Wednesday around 3:30 p.m. on the 1300 block of 38th St. near Blackwelder.

Tips led investigators to the house where they believe 28-year-old Jeffery Ramirez was visiting.

Ramirez is a prime suspect in a homicide that happened back in July.

A young man was gunned down and left for dead in an apartment complex near 39th St. and Portland Ave.

Other occupants came out when lawmen ordered them but Ramirez was hiding in the attic.

Thirty minutes later the SWAT team had to smoke him out.

"There are so many places he could be hiding, like under insulation," OKC Police Officer Thomas said. "So the team used O.C. spray fog to smoke up the attic. He then decided to come out."

Residents had to stay inside.

One woman and her children had to go to her neighbor's house to escape the range of possible stray bullets.

Rancho Village Elementary School was put on lockdown to keep students safe.

Ramirez was booked in the Oklahoma County jail arrested for first-degree murder.

He is being held without bond.
