OKLAHOMA CITY – The OKC Zoo is offering a rare opportunity for animal lovers.

Gorillas are one of the most popular animals at the zoo.

But their wild cousins, the mountain gorillas in Africa, now number only around 500 or fewer.

You may remember the book and movie "Gorillas in the Mist" about biologist Dian Fossey.

The work she started to save gorillas is continuing.

Tuesday night representatives from the Dian Fossey Gorilla Fund will be speaking at a public event at the Oklahoma City Zoo.

Clare Richardson stopped by to talk about the event.

Tuesday’s event is from 6 p.m. to 7 p.m. in the zoo's education auditorium.

The event is free but limited to the first 300 attendees.
