OKLAHOMA CITY—A local man is behind bars after allegedly robbing an Oklahoma City bank.

The FBI says 65-year-old Ronald Buchanan walked into the Coppermark Bank on NW 23rd St. just after 4 p.m. Friday and demanded money from the cashier.

Authorities allege Buchanan handed the teller a note and left the bank after receiving the cash.

He didn’t know he was being followed by a sheriff’s deputy.

Lt. Michelle Holland, Oklahoma City Police Dept., said,  “He was caught very quickly. The teller alerted the sheriff, who was working inside the bank, and he was caught just outside the door.”

Police say the deputy was off duty at the time and was providing security for the bank when the robbery happened.
