NEWTOWN, Conn. - This young man, Matthew, lives doors down from the Lanza family on Newtown’s Yogananda St.

On his block, investigators are working to piece together the Lanza family’s connections to the deadly mass shooting at the Sandy Hook elementary school.

“I live right up the street and I've lived in this town my entire life and it’s not like I expected for something like this to even happen,” Matthew said. “it’s kind of, it’s kind of, I’m at a loss for words at this.”

As chaos unfolded outside the school and parents searched for their children, police descended on the Lanza family's Newtown home.

Area residents were cleared out of their homes around 11 a.m. Friday as state police, k9 units, SWAT teams and helicopters moved in.

Authorities found one body inside the Lanza residence adding another crime scene to Friday’s horrific events.

Many in this small cul-de-sac have connections on both sides to the many victims and to the Lanza family

“It’s disgusting,” Matthew said. “How could someone even do this, you know?”
