OKLAHOMA CITY—A few local animal rescue groups are hoping to find some new homes for rescued cats and dogs, just in time for the holidays.

This weekend, the “Bella Foundation” is partnering with other groups to hold a three-day adoption event called “Home for the Holidays.”

Organizers say it is always best to save a pet’s life at a shelter or sanctuary rather than purchasing one.

Tevin Garner said, “I know the Oklahoma City shelter, they get anywhere from 80 to 280 dogs dropped off every day and so the more we can adopt out, the more space we have and the more resources we can free up for more dogs.”

More than 200 pets were adopted to homes, but there are still plenty more who are in need of a family.

If you are looking to add to your family, the “Home for the Holidays” adoption event is open from 9 a.m. to 7 p.m. Sunday.
