CHANDLER, Okla. - One man is dead following a shooting in Lincoln County.

That's where a father was forced to kill his own son Monday night.

The Lincoln County sheriff said the shooting followed a violent argument between the son and his parents.

The victim in this case allegedly attacked his mom before being killed by his dad.

Right now it does not appear the father will be arrested for the shooting.

Investigators said 35-year-old Ernie Bolz became intoxicated and combative, allegedly assaulting his mother.

As a result of that attack, Ernie's father grabbed a shotgun and fatally shot his son to death.

Court records show Ernie Bolz had a history of domestic violence.

In April prosecutors in Tulsa County charged Bolz with assaulting his wife.

That led to the couple filing for divorce.

Monday, just hours before his death, Bolz appeared in court for child support issues and for an arraignment on the assault charge.

While his personal life unraveled, Bolz had been staying with his parents at their home on Highway 18 just north of Chandler.

Investigators said, so far, the family shooting appears to be a clear case of self defense.

Ultimately, it will be up to the district attorney in Lincoln County to decide if charges should be filed against the father.
