OKLAHOMA CITY—Police are investigating another homicide within city limits, bringing the total so far this year to 98.

It was a wild and deadly scene that played out at a northwest Oklahoma City home and ended with an event that shocked police.

Investigators were called to a home in the 1500 block of N.W. 39th St. early Friday morning.

When they arrived, they found a woman being held hostage inside a car with an armed suspect.

Police managed to talk the suspect into letting the woman go.

However, while police checked on the victim, the man took off.

He led police on a pursuit that eventually ended with a crash near the I-40 and I-35 Junction.

When officers cautiously walked towards the car, they spotted the man’s body inside.

They say it appears he shot himself.

At the first crime scene, investigators found another man’s body inside the home, who may have been killed by the gunman.

Neighbors say they are in shock over what transpired just next door.

Logan Filkins said, “It’s just completely perplexing, how somebody can do something like that.”

Dary Dorris said, “If you’re going through something where you have to take somebody else’s life or hurt somebody else, that’s ridiculous, you know, just get help.”

To add to the tragedy, investigators found four children inside the home.

Officials say the children, ranging in age from 1 to 9-years-old, may have witnessed the shooting.

Fortunately, they were not injured.

While authorities have not released the suspect’s name, we have learned that he was estranged from the woman who was attacked.

Sources say the pair also have children together.
