OKLAHOMA CITY – Oklahomans are paying their respects to former Oklahoma City Mayor Patience Latting.

Mayor Latting died Dec. 29 and her body is lying in repose at City Hall Thursday.

She was the first woman elected mayor of a city of more than 350,000 residents in the United States.

She was also the only woman ever to serve as mayor of Oklahoma City.

A pretty popular mayor, she served three consecutive terms from April of 1971 to April of 1983.

Her funeral is Saturday starting at 2 p.m. at Westminster Presbyterian Church on Shartel Ave.
