MIDWEST CITY, Okla. - A couple of weeks ago started our new "Rebuilding Our Community" segment with Salazar Roofing and Construction.

The program allows News Channel 4 viewers to submit their home repair needs and Salazar will select one lucky winner to make up to $10,000 worth of repairs.

Boy, did we get a response.

Our inbox was overflowing with viewers who could use the crews from Salazar to help make their house perfect.

We could only choose one candidate this time around.

On a gray and overcast day, life changed for the better for one busy Oklahoma mom.

Jenni Griffin from Midwest City got a big surprise.

We showed up at her door to tell her she was the first winner in our Rebuilding Our Community project.

Salazar Roofing and Construction is going to help remodel and re-roof Jenny's home, about $10,000 worth of work.

Mike Salazar said, "What I'm gonna be doing, move her washer and dryer over here and I'm gonna sheetrock and put new sheetrock and insulation and fix the bottom of the walls in the garage area,” he said. “And replace the door and just paint everything and replace the ceilings and the roof and everything."

Jenni stays busy with her two children, her job and is taking classes at UCO.

Watch the progress on Jenni's home on KFOR-TV in special reports at 5 p.m. through February.
