OKLAHOMA CITY—Arson investigators are looking into the cause behind a blaze at a local apartment complex.

Firefighters were called to the “Villa On the Lake” apartment complex on Sunday after witnesses reported seeing smoke coming from the area.

When crews arrived in the 7400 block of Lyrewood Ln., they began attacking the fire.

Authorities say it took crews nearly two hours before they were able to get it under control.

Fortunately, no one was injured in the blaze.

Crews determined the fire started in an empty unit and investigators say it looks suspicious.

Batt. Chief Mike Walker, with the Oklahoma City Fire Department, said, “The property manager says they have been having problems with vandalism for the last few weeks.”

He said, “They’ve had another fire here in the last month and the property manager is very concerned about the growing problem.”

Neighbors reported seeing young teenagers and children near the building Sunday night.
