Venezuelan President Hugo Chavez dies

VENEZUELA (CNN)—Venezuelan President Hugo Chavez has died, according to Vice President Nicolas Maduro.

In a national announcement, officials say Chavez died Tuesday at 4:25 p.m.

He was just 58-years-old.

Authorities say Chavez was suffering from a severe respiratory infection after undergoing his fourth cancer surgery in Cuba.

He had been receiving chemotherapy, along with other treatments.
