OKLAHOMA CITY - Before the Oklahoma City Barons prepare for a game this Saturday, fans are encouraged to donate blood to save a life.

The Oklahoma Blood Institute said supplies tend to get low this time of year, especially around spring break.

A cancer survivor and an avid Barons fan said she is alive today because of people who gave a bit of themselves during event's like the one this weekend.

Ida Newton said, “You may not know who donates the blood to you but you know that someone is there for you."

You can donate blood at the Cox Convention Center Saturday from 1 p.m. to 6 p.m.

Every donor over the age of 18 will be entered to win a Ford F-150 which will be given away at the hockey game that night.
