SHAWNEE, Okla. – A former McLoud elementary school teacher makes a plea to the judge in a 24-page letter explaining why she took inappropriate pictures of her students.

Kim Crain pleaded no contest back in January to the charges against her.

She’s scheduled for sentencing later this month.

Her co-defendant, Gary Doby, a former college professor from Pennsylvania, pleaded guilty and received a life sentence.

Both were accused of sexually exploiting school children.

Crain is accused of taking nude and provocative photos of her students and sending them to Doby.

She would also have her students Skype with Doby from her classroom.

In a handwritten letter to the judge, Crain blames her mistakes on a struggle with menopause, weight gain and depression.

She said in her efforts to please Doby, she eventually emailed him candid snapshots of girls in her classroom.

Crain wrote, when he suggested she have a sleepover with the girls, she became uneasy and wondered what she had gotten herself into.

At the end of her letter, Crain asked the judge for a second chance.

She’s scheduled to learn her fate next week, March 22.
