OKLAHOMA CITY - Police are investigating to find out who dumped a newborn baby boy's body in Oklahoma City.

Detectives say a family's dog happened to find the infant's body and brought it back to their home in the 15000 block of Air Depot Blvd.

A woman house sitting for the family saw the child just before 8:00 a.m. Saturday and immediately called 911.

Investigators say the dog roams the wooded, rural area and believe the child was dumped nearby.

The discovery stunned neighbors like Jack Herron.

"People cherish youth. They cherish babies, and death is bad anytime," said Herron. "but when it's somebody who didn't get an opportunity to start life, that's absolutely horrible."

Police searched the area with a helicopter and K9 units, but they still haven't said if they located the area where the dog found the child.

Investigators don't know if the child was born dead, but mothers in the community filled with children say it's too close to home.

"It's immediately personal," said Beth Lawton.

Investigators said they do not much information to go on and are seeking the public's assistance.
