ATF called in after Texas D.A. murdered

KAUFMAN, Texas – Security was high Monday at the Kaufman County Courthouse in as employees returned to work following the weekend murder of their district attorney.

Law enforcement officers were positioned outside the courthouse.

Some of the employees were escorted inside.

It was Saturday, D. A. Mike McLelland and his wife were found shot to death in their home.

Their deaths follow the murder of an assistant D. A. who was gunned down in a parking lot near the courthouse two months ago.

Meanwhile, the search for suspects continues.

The ATF has assigned four agents to help local authorities with the investigation.
