OKLAHOMA CITY – Oklahoma City Police have confirmed Officer Chad Peery died Monday from injuries suffered in a car accident Sunday evening.

Two of his children are in good condition and two others remain in serious condition.

His 19-year-old caretaker, Shelby Palmer, has been released from the hospital.

Officials confirmed Officer Chad Peery was in an accident about 5:30 p.m. Sunday near Prague in Seminole County.

According to OU Medical Center, Peery was in “very critical” condition Sunday.

Peery was riding with his 19-year-old nurse, Shelby Palmer, who was driving the vehicle when a tire blew out.

Officials confirmed Peery’s caretaker was driving and the only one wearing a seat belt.

Four of the victims were ejected from the vehicle.

Officer Peery was paralyzed in a 2011 fight while trying to escort men from a bar.

OKC Police Capt. Dexter Nelson said the family has asked, in lieu of flowers, donations be made to the Chad Peery Foundation.

Capt. Nelson said Peery’s organs will be donated to others in need.
