JINHUA, CHINA — Residents in an apartment building called firefighters after hearing a baby crying. After arriving the firefighters found the newborn lodged in a sewage pipe.

Firefighters attempts to pull the baby out of the pipe failed, so rescuers sawed away a section of the four-inch diameter pipe with the baby still inside.

Doctors and rescuers spent nearly an hour taking the tube apart piece by piece, and finally recovered the newborn.

The five-pound boy suffered some cuts to his face and limbs, but is in stable condition.

Police are still looking for the baby’s parents.
