Deputy shoots Okfuskee County man wielding gun
PADEN, Okla. – One man is dead after investigators said he pointed a shotgun at an Okfuskee County sheriff’s deputy.
Authorities said the deputy was responding to a domestic dispute call in Paden Sunday.
They said 48-year-old Curtis Fipps, who was not involved in the dispute, approached the deputy while holding a gun.
Fipps refused the deputy’s order to drop the weapon and instead turned the gun toward the deputy.
The deputy opened fire, killing Fipps.
The Okfuskee County sheriff’s office has asked the OSBI to assist in the investigation.
