NORMAN, OK — Four players with Oklahoma ties have made the U.S. national softball team that will compete in the World Cup of Softball at ASA Hall of Fame Stadium in Oklahoma City next month.

Three current or former Sooners, pitcher Keilani Ricketts, first baseman Lauren Chamberlain, and outfielder Destinee Martinez all made the team, as did Tulsa pitcher Aimee Creger, a native of Yukon.

The Team USA softball tryouts camp was held in Oklahoma City earlier this week.

It’s the first time on Team USA for all of the players except Ricketts, who will be on the team for the third year.

Ricketts was recently named the winner of the Honda Award as the nation’s top college softball player, winning the honor for the second year in a row.

Ricketts, Chamberlain, and Martinez all helped the Sooners win the NCAA championship in Oklahoma City early this month.

The World Cup of Softball runs from July 11-14.
