MEXICO CITY – The kingpin of one of Mexico’s most powerful drug cartels is behind bars Tuesday.

Miguel Angel Trevino Morales, the notoriously brutal leader of the Zetas drug cartel, was captured by Mexican Marines before dawn Monday.

Back in June 2012, the FBI raided a horse ranch in Lexington, Oklahoma, where Trevino Morales’ relatives were using “Zule Farms” to funnel millions in drug money.

Officials said Marine forces intercepted a truck with about $2 million in cash outside the Zeta’s base of operations in Mexico.

Trevino Morales is charged with kidnapping and killing 265 migrants as well as other crimes.

He and his alleged accomplices have now been taken to Mexico City where they are expected to stand trial.

However officials said it could be years before that happens.
