Trial delayed for accused accomplice in fatal burglary

BLANCHARD, Okla.- It is a case that gained national attention.

An 18-year-old widow is home alone with her 3-month-old baby when a pair of intruders attempt to break into her home.

Sarah McKinley moved a couch in front of the door and grabbed two guns before calling 911.

Authorities say that is when Justin Martin made it through the front door and was immediately shot by the teenager.

According to police records, his alleged accomplice, Dustin Stewart, fled the scene.

Stewart is now being charged with first-degree murder since he is accused of participating in a crime that resulted in a death.

Stewart’s defense attorney recently filed a motion to dismiss the case, which resulted in the trial being delayed.

A new trial is scheduled for October 21.
