CATOOSA, Okla. – A father is in custody after a 4-year-old boy was found wandering in a dark parking lot at the Hard Rock Hotel & Casino early Friday morning.

Officials said the boy was found on the second floor of the parking garage.

When police asked the boy how he got there, they said he told them his parents got mad at him and kicked him out of the van.

Police said the boy told them he and his family live in the vehicle.

Authorities arrested the boy’s father, Harley Walter Hayes, less than an hour later when he drove up to the hotel valet looking for his son.

He is facing child neglect charges.

The boy’s mother, who has not been identified, has no parental rights and is currently serving a 10-year deferred sentence for child neglect.

The boy is now in DHS custody.
