EDMOND, Okla. – Back when I first arrived at KFOR-TV in 1982, the school was then known as Central State University and the Bronchos were really good in football, playing on the NAIA level. That season, in fact, then head coach Gary Howard led CSU to the NAIA National Championship and the tradition at the Edmond school was rich. But that was then.

Times since then have been tough to say the least. In fact, the school now called Central Oklahoma has not won more than TWO games in any season since 2009 and the last time UCO had a winning season was 2008. But their 2nd year head coach Nick Bobeck once played at UCO and came to the school after an impressive run as head coach at the Junior College level, leading Navarro (Texas) to a 42-5 record in his 5 years there.

So Bobeck plans on his Bronchos being a lot better this fall than their 2-8 record last season indicated. He talks about his program that will kick off their season Thursday night, Sept. 5th in Joplin against Missouri Southern.
