Man injured while jumping from parking garage now facing charges

OKLAHOMA CITY –A man who jumped off the parking garage at Penn Square Mall while fleeing from security is now being charged with larceny of merchandise.

Authorities say a security officer at J.C. Penney allegedly spotted 24-year-old Charles Cooley hiding jeans inside a Dillard’s bag before walking out of the store.

When the officer confronted him outside, Cooley took off and ran to the third level of the PennSquareParkingGarage1parking garage before jumping to the second level.

Once on the second level, Cooley jumped to the first level of the garage.

He soon collapsed and was taken to a local hospital for treatment.

Oklahoma City police authorities say Cooley admitted to not paying for the pants.

Cooley is now being charged with larceny of merchandise.
