DETROIT- Authorities in Detroit are searching for a prisoner who escaped by stabbing a deputy and stealing his clothes.

Officials say 25-year-old Derreck White was facing robbery charges in court when he allegedly stabbed a deputy in the neck, stole his clothing and carjacked a minivan.

White allegedly crafted a makeshift weapon out of a comb, which broke during the attack.

The deputy suffered only minor injuries and was able to call for help minutes later.

Police say White abandoned the van on the city’s east side later in the day.

Authorities with the Detroit Police Department say White is considered armed and dangerous.
