Best time to winterize home is now

Fall is now officially underway.

That means it’s time to get ready for some cooler weather.

According to the Farmer’s Almanac online, now is the best time to get a jump on winterizing your home before the colder months hit.

The Oklahoma Association of Realtors is offering some tips on how to get your home ready for temperature change,

If you have a fireplace, make sure your chimney is in safe, working order before using it. More than 24,000 house fires are caused by chimneys or fireplaces each year.

Keep clutter out of the gutter, use a garden hose to flush out leaves and debris weighing them down.

Make sure your furnace is functional.

Get your heating unit inspected by a professional each autumn before you start running it regularly.

Also, celebrate the season; decorating your front door with an autumn wreath and pumpkins can be a great way to increase fall curb appeal.
