CHOCTAW, Okla. - The Choctaw Police Department says a 14-year-old girl was injured during Homecoming festivities Thursday night.

The teenager fell off a curb and hit a slow moving float, according to the Police Chief.

The accident happened at the end of the parade route at the school.

Parents and float drivers say the area around the Choctaw High School was very hectic during the parade, and they could see where someone could get hurt.

"It was packed, full of screaming children that have been eating candy and running and just cars running everywhere," said Haley Pendergraft. "It was a mess."

Emergency crews are on the scene treating the teen, but the injuries do not seem to be severe.

Parents say they are thankful the student is okay especially after the fatal float accident last July.
