Oklahoma County students walking to school Wednesday to raise awareness

OKLAHOMA CITY – Students in Oklahoma County are joining thousands of others across the country to walk to school Wednesday.

It is part of a national effort to promote exercise and increase pedestrian safety.

Officials at the Oklahoma City-County Health Department said about 4,300 schools across the nation participated in the events last year.

Choctaw Elementary, Deer Creek Elementary, Jones Elementary, Del City Elementary, Cleveland Elementary, Fillmore Elementary, Oakridge Elementary, Stanley Hupfeld Academy at Western Village and East Side Elementary in Midwest City are all getting in on the walking action this week.

The Oklahoma City-County Health Department’s Wellness Now coalition will participate with Millwood PK-8 Wednesday morning.

    It is about time Oklahoman’s do something other than watch Fox news and eat at Applebee’s and shop at Wally World !
