Two Americans honored with Nobel Prize for medicine

STOCKHOLM, Sweden – Two Americans and a German man are the winners of the 2013 Nobel Prize for medicine.

James Rothman and Randy Schekman along with German recipient Thomas Sodhof are being recognized for their discoveries on how hormones, enzymes and other substances are transported within cells.

Scientists said they hope their research will lead to medicines against epilepsy, diabetes and metabolism deficiencies.
