OKLAHOMA CITY – A 30-year-old Perkins man is facing charges related to a fatal accident that claimed the lives of two students from Classen School of Advanced Studies earlier this year.

Authorities say Michael Andrew Reed now faces charges of negligent homicide in their deaths.

On March 1, 17-year-old Carla Duenez and 17-year-old Dajia La Nae Brown were killed when their disabled van was struck from behind on Hwy 51.

Three of their friends were trying to push the van to the side of the highway when it was hit.

Prosecutors say Reed was driving his pickup truck recklessly at a high-speed and didn’t slow down or change lanes to avoid the accident.

Reed could face up to two years in jail and a $2,000 fine.
