OKLAHOMA CITY – A special tribute was unveiled Tuesday for two Oklahoma law enforcement officers who were killed in the line of duty 13 years ago.

OHP trooper Matthew Evans and Oklahoma City police officer Jeff Rominger died in 2000 in a fiery crash on I-40.

The crash happened while two suspects were driving the wrong way on the interstate.

A remembrance sign that honors the two fallen officers is now posted for future generations.

The Department of Transportation unveiled a sign along I-40 for the “Trooper Matthew Evans and Officer Jeffery Rominger Memorial Parkway.”

The sign is on the south side of eastbound I-40, along the Frontage Rd. between S. May Ave. and Agnew.
